My Dad raced these for over 14 years of my life and before I was even born.
I served on his pit crew as fuel and helmet girl for the last five years he raced and there was never a better weekend at Daddy's than when my sisters and I would sit on the race bleachers and watch the dirt fly. Friday nights at Jacksonville will always be my favorite melodies.
This is an image of the 410 race engine sprint he raced when he ended his career a good 5 to 7 years ago. It's sad, actually.
I never saw a happier smile on my dad's face than when he would finish a race well raced. Win or lose, racing was my daddy's passion, and now. . .well. . .let's just say the smile has yet to come back.
This is for a friend who was curious as to what a Sprint Car looked like.
He used to race with the World of Outlaws circuit and I think this picture was taken at the St. Franscois County Speedway. He's a legend at Granite City Speedway and he raced Jacksonville, Knoxville, Peevely, MO, Farmington, MO, and sometimes Mt. Vernon. He spent a lot of his last few years at Farmington and Peevley.
The Nationals were the best. I loved going down to the pits and getting autographs. It was awesome!
Any particular reason?
Love and Luck,
Kat

Yeah, I grew up in the West Central part of Illinois. I will probably die here, too, so don't feel bad!
Yeah, I grew up with racing fuel in my blood and fine dirt dust in my lungs. I miss the races a LOT.
My dad raced in Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana I think. I don't know if he ever raced anywhere else. I would have to ask. He has raced TQ midgets, Sprints, and an IRL car. I think he ran Champ cars at the Illinois State Fair for a few years, but he was a Sprint racer at heart. He doesn't race anymore, but he'll be there at Knoxville with my grandpa and stepmom, so
I haven't had time to go. . .kinda a bummer.
What are the Enduro's? God, I feel like I am going to feel embarrassed when you tell me the answer.
Love and Luck,
Kat

Nothing wrong with Illinois.... I've been to a suburb of Chicago several times... the womans cousins live there... the enduro race we have once a year during our fair.. It's kind of like a full track demo derby... old junkers... 200 laps or 2 hours... towards the end the track gets dry and thats when it gets interesting...... Ever been to a figure 8 track...?? I have'nt been for a race, but I've seen a track... Now Thats gotta be fun to watch..!! lol...
